Sustainability first

We are proud of our involvement in New Zealand's first commercial earth bank building. Te Mirumiru is a bilingual childcare centre in Kawakawa and the brainchild of award-winning architect Phil Smith and local hapu Ngati Hine.

Kwanto provided estimation and cost planning services during the concept and design phase of this unique project. The use of non-routine construction methods and environmentally sustainable materials made costing the design both interesting and challenging. Despite this, our cost estimation was within 2% of the actual cost to build.

We keep improving our expertise in costing green buildings and are active members of the New Zealand Green Building Council. We walk the talk too, Kwanto is Toitū Enviromark Gold certified and always striving to tread lightly on this earth.

"Firstly, I was impressed by how much detail Kwanto was able to give from such rudimentary information provided and secondly, how quickly Kwanto was able to produce such a thorough assessment of the predicted costs. The level of detail provided reassurance that the cost was likely to be robust."
