Omaroo meaning “ beautiful view” in the Aboriginal language was born out of naturalistic landform, topographic dimension, relative to the shapes and forms of the existing built environment that in some way reflects the human connection to nature.

Omaroo is place-based, or vernacular, its bunker like dimension features-built shapes that connects the landscape or building to the culture and ecology of its local area. The property features 10 individual apartments and townhouses all linked by dynamic balance and hierarchical transition.

Oamroo’s connection to nature is “Biophilic“ created with ground earth colours, water and sunlight, and well-ventilated spaces promoting well-being. Three separate buildings nestled in harmony with the surrounding nature, complementing Pittwater’s local geological features, plants and animals.

Both internally and externally, the element of natural shapes and forms includes representations and simulations of patterns found in the local vegetation, trees and leaves, natural features imitate the flowing, organic forms of nature rather than sticking to the straight edges and right angles typically found in modern architecture is what Omaroo represents, the design that mimics local geology or resembles living forms.

Incorporating biophilic properties found in Pittwater, Omaroo adopts several shapes resisting straight lines and right angles along richness of detail in things we perceive with our senses like light or sounds, it seeks to patina the qualities of materials over time and spaces, create passageways with clear boundaries, define a sense of pattern, contrast or connection found among different spaces. An over 55’s development, people residing at Omaroo shall perceive wholeness or completeness in their years of retirement or reprieve, it shall become a territorial haven.

Abundance of natural and filtered daylight, interplay of rich chocolate- caramel grey earthy timbers and ceramic shades along with the manipulation of light creates a sense of openness, diversity, harmony and a link between the indoor and outdoor. The connection is infectious fostering a sense of safety within a uniquely modified development from the typical project brief. It is intentional, allowing humans to have an emotional sense of stewardship over it.
