The owners asked for a garden that would fit in with the style and location of their new home – a striking Canadian Rocky’s style house on a large block overlooking a stunning valley and creek on the Mornington Peninsula.
Having a garden that not only blended well with the architectural style but was also designed as sustainably as possible was of primary importance.
In close collaboration with the owners, we advised on and incorporated appropriate plants, materials, textures, colour schemes and furniture to complement the house design. We also carefully designed for views and focal points and ensured that the garden and grounds offered maximum privacy and functionality.
It was important to take the steep incline of the land into account when selecting the plants that would work to the best advantage. Indigenous native trees and shrubs were chosen and set around meandering paths bordered by coastal timber fences.
The sustainability focus was reinforced by designing structural elements, wherever possible, from locally sourced materials.
