Built in 1938 as a Winstone Brick showhome, this rebuild required a careful approach to maintain the unique style of the house and property.

It involved substantial internal repair work, extensive brickwork, special framing to tie the brick to the structure, demolition of the old garage to make way for a studio, the reconstruction of a laundry shed, a deck addition, and landscaping the garden walls and front fence.

While keeping the original internal layout, we added a little more room in the living area, built a loggia roof with a louvre system over a new outdoor fireplace and deck. In the new studio, we installed all new skirtings, scotia and timber trims to mirror the age and aesthetic of the property.

This was a really fun challenge for the Woodsmith team. The result is a warm, modern and efficient home with great indoor-outdoor flow that maintains its original charm and unique qualities.
