SUBTYPE was born in Sydney in 2014 as a destination for premium sneakers that blurred the lines between fashion and street. SUBTYPE now curates a full collection of apparel and footwear across premium destinations in Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland and now in Brisbane. SUBTYPE Brisbane is the 5th brick and mortar development from the SUBTYPE brand. The design evolved from an understanding of raw space. Analysing materials that would be seen as rough and incomplete, and then applying our signature touch to bring these together and create something beautiful. The highpoint building that the space sits in is indicative of an artistic display in itself. The energy of the space exists before even entering. Whilst the design remains consistent with all other SUBTYPE stores that came before it, such as the strong gold box feature as well as concrete and metal framings, touches of the coastal location are scattered throughout the store to provide an experience tailored to what those who visit are familiar with. I was tasked with capturing the light-filled commercial interior space and exterior facade.
