Generous project budgets are not always critical to satisfying results. Our dedicated clients engaged us to evolve a stalled renovation, within the constraints of a circa 1877 protected heritage building in central Hobart, working with a previously approved application and dilapidated building fabric.

Determined to maintain our design objectives, we convinced the clients to restore unsympathetic external elements to their original form and to minimally reconfigure the internal space, creating more functional light-filled areas.

Restraint and careful deliberation over many iterations of the concept provide a result that surprised and delighted our clients and justified a patient approach.

A grand old lady is given a new lease on life.

Studio Ilk takes an inclusive and collaborative approach to design. We listen deeply to produce truly unique responses to each project, site and client. Adapting not only to the intricacies of each new site, but also seeking to understand the people behind the brief.

We continually evolve the way we work, informed by people, place and the greater societal context in which we practice, always seeking to respect and foster local values and craftsmanship, so that the result is functional and enduring solutions that enrich daily life for our clients, whether residential or commercial.

At ArchiPro we recognise and acknowledge the existing, original and ancient connection Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have to the lands and waterways across the Australian continent. We pay our respects to the elders past and present. We commit to working together to build a prosperous and inclusive Australia.
