The talented team at Homes by Ivy, bought the worst house in the best street and gave it a new lease on life, creating a beautifully warm and inviting home. This 3 bedroom, 2 Bath, Victorian, built in 1900, was meticulously brought from near ruin to a contemporary environment, complete with all the modern conveniences a house of today has, while staying true to its heritage.
The Bonny House was a project of love and passion, and every detail was considered. Ivy and her team focussed significantly on developing a sustainable, energy-efficient home that would future proof the carbon footprint and reduce the cost of living. Heating and cooling the home was a big part of this consideration, so the team used the latest hydronic heating, multi-layered acoustic insulation within the walls, floor, ceiling, and roof including double glazed windows to keep the home cool in the summer and warm in the cooler months.
All down-lights were removed from the lighting scheme as much the of heat escapes from the downlight surrounds. The specified appliances used in this project were the most energy-efficient on the market, completing a home that is efficient and sustainable.
Integrated within the custom-built overhead cabinet is the powerfully silent UM1170-9BS undermount rangehood. The black powder coated finish matched perfectly with the induction cooktop and ovens establishes a holistic design aesthetic to the space. The German-made Isodrive® ST.900 external motor produces up to a mere 57 Watts of power, making it one of the most energy-efficient rangehood solutions today.
Complementing the complete silent ventilation solution, the main bathroom and laundry adopts the BR522 silent exhaust fan. Designed to whisk away odours, steam, stale air and humidity in seconds the system was vented into 2 adjacent rooms using the one externally mounted Isodrive® motor. This keeps installation and running cost down and best of all, very quiet.
A mix of original architecture, sustainability features and thoughtful interior design has made this house into a truly wonderful home to be enjoyed for many more years to come.
