Once an often-passed undeveloped hill, this client just knew it would be a special place to build a home. When he saw from his mountain bike one day that a subdivision had begun, he could not pedal home fast enough to tell his wife that all their dreams were about to come true.

Modern farmhouse luxe was the brief from our clients. They wanted to steer away from a typical farmhouse with rusticated items and chrome fittings, so we uplifted the areas they loved and made them modern to suit the style they loved, right down to the shaker style grooved interior doors.

The view was important to capture, the house is in two wings designed to capture the stunning rolling hills and across the way, Mt Taranaki. They wanted a large open space that allowed for all of the daily life with children to not only be functional, but lovely too look at. The space was both wanted for light and enjoyment of the scale but also for growth as the family grew, and grew up.

A very special wish list item that was given in the initial planning stages, prior to even council was that gorgeous oven – an oven that will serve many family functions for years and years to come. The decision for concrete polished floors throughout the large living area and bathrooms was a no brainer, clean, simple, understated and of course – very easy to clean. A gorgeous home for a gorgeous family.

About the
Professional

Lee and Kate Baillie are anything but your typical home building company.
Designing custom new homes from NZ made steel framing is not only their day job but their absolute passion. In 2011 after many years in the game, BCL was born to help other Kiwi’s build their dream, whether it be the first or the first of many. From initial stages such as finding a section, engineering, architect involvement, council, floor plans, selecting all of the fixtures and fittings, right through to handing over the keys. Lee and Kate offer and insist on a full hand-holding approach to building whereby you are on-site for all subcontractor planning meetings to ensure you get exactly what you want, where you want, right down to where the extra plug for the Christmas lights will go - because it’s your hard-earnt money after all. Their keen eye for detail and level of perfection that comes from not only their own experience but from their long-standing builders and same set of core subtrades over the past decade makes for beautiful on budget homes, every single time.

We Build Dreams (not cookie-cutter homes)
Every build is in house project managed and interior designed under a fixed priced building contract so you know exactly what you are getting from the outset. Having a wealth of knowledge for product, placement and where to find the best bang for your buck is a skill that is also part of what you get with BCL, their trade deals are passed onto you as there is no salespeople, flashy office, or nationwide advertising to cover. This is a big part of who they are and what they do – no extra guff. As well as being franchise free, they are a family-run and full of fun team who pride themselves on the actively ensuring eco-sustainable practices are upheld and use NZ designed and made products where ever possible to continue be a part of our country’s economy. Lee and Kate can be found actively supporting many charities and participating in events within their community because they believe in being locals.

Anyone can build you a home, but it’s the little things that make all the difference.
