The Farm House

Once an often-passed undeveloped hill, this client just knew it would be a special place to build a home. When he saw from his mountain bike one day that a subdivision had begun, he could not pedal home fast enough to tell his wife that all their dreams were about to come true.   Modern farmhouse luxe was the brief from our clients. They wanted to steer away from a typical farmhouse with rusticated items and chrome fittings, so we uplifted the areas they loved and made them modern to suit the style they loved, right down to the shaker style grooved interior doors.    The view was important to capture, the house is in two wings designed to capture the stunning rolling hills and across the way, Mt Taranaki. They wanted a large open space that allowed for all of the daily life with children to not only be functional, but lovely too look at. The space was both wanted for light and enjoyment of the scale but also for growth as the family grew, and grew up.   A very special wish list item that was given in the initial planning stages, prior to even council was that gorgeous oven – an oven that will serve many family functions for years and years to come. The decision for concrete polished floors throughout the large living area and bathrooms was a no brainer, clean, simple, understated and of course – very easy to clean. A gorgeous home for a gorgeous family.
