The Monochrome Home

This client was a First Home Buyer using Kiwi Saver and Welcome Home Grants who had done the rounds, many open homes, staged show homes and enquires only to find exactly what he didn’t want ….this sent him on the search for a small, local company who knew what they were doing and could delivery beauty on a budget.   Born from want of ‘no fuss’ this modern sleek monochrome home very quickly had a style. This client’s wish list was, large bathrooms, solid chunky benches, hidden away pantry, black features and crisp white walls – and that’s exactly what they got! From the granite slab vanities with matt black visible pipework to the 200kg hand-poured concrete benchtops and fire seating bench, this home is every bit a monochrome piece of magic. Clean lines and evident throughout the entire home, and it feels very special in the bathrooms by the addition of black toilets – yes matt black toilets.  There are two in the house, featured in the en-suite behind the walk-in wardrobe and the powder room toilet for guests. These were an addition that was to keep in line with this sleek vibe of the home and were just the cherry on the top for the theme. Both the shower and kitchen splashback were custom pieces of glass, it is always better to make it work spatially and in proportion. More lights in the hallway, under the rangehood and along the back wall of the splashback add the magic to what is pure perfection in the eye of a minimalist.
