Nestled within the charming enclave of Drummoyne, NSW, the Thompson Residence emerges as an epitome of transformation and design finesse. Inspired by the owner's aspiration for a bespoke private abode, a contemporary dwelling design characterized by an earth-toned palette arose.

A visual symphony was orchestrated by blending the rustic elegance of rendered concrete and off-form concrete at the ground level, with the modernity exuded by timber cladding and colorbond metal cladding adorning the first level. The façade, conceived to embody minimalist allure while captivating the senses, embraces a framing methodology that elegantly encases the windows, transforming them into artful vignettes.

The genesis of the design journey was rooted in the purity of shapes, with the rectangular form serving as the lodestar. Drawing inspiration from the Rectangular House, an assembly of rectangles and lines of different dimensions begins to manifest. The design is evolved further through the astute incorporation of materials and linear profiles, culminating in a contemporary minimalist aesthetic that alludes to the original concept of rectangles.

In our pursuit to harmonize the residence with its surroundings, we focused on achieving an optimal elevation that bestowed the coveted water view outlook upon the dwelling. Internally, the plan is guided by rectangular modules and complemented with the fluidity of a curved arc balustrade. This distinctive curvature emerged as a unifying language, etching its presence both internally and externally, fostering a visual dialogue that enchants and captivates.
