The project consisted of major alterations and additions to a 1920s bungalow within the Artarmon Conservation area. The existing house had been poorly and unsympathetically altered over many years. The new works retained the original front rooms and front façade of the house and added a new side entry and living spaces which open completely to a new terrace, garden and swimming pool at the rear. New bedrooms and a playroom are situated within a roof form designed to fit with the original style with minimal impact to the street frontage. A carport forward of the building line was a challenge for approval. It is designed as a flat, pebbled roof form that is subservient to the pitches of the old house. The result of the works is a great home for a young family.
