A refined mountain lodge that balances robust rural forms with warm, contemporary living amongst the rugged alpine beauty of Mt Cardrona Station
Set within the dramatic alpine landscape of the Cardrona Valley, Tuhura Lodge is conceived as a contemporary retreat that draws inspiration from the rugged rural architecture of Central Otago. The design combines simple gabled forms, natural materials and expansive glazing to create a warm, refined response to its extraordinary setting. Carefully positioned to maximise sunlight, privacy and panoramic mountain views, the lodge balances robust exterior materials with inviting interior spaces tailored for gathering and relaxation. Generous living areas flow seamlessly to sheltered outdoor terraces, reinforcing a strong connection to the surrounding landscape throughout the seasons. The architecture emphasises clarity, restraint and craftsmanship, with steel, timber and textured concrete grounding the building within its alpine environment
