Location: Hamilton Year: 2018 Stage: Detail Design   Set on a corner section within an upcoming subdivision Architecto were approached to design a new family home with four bedrooms and two living spaces. The Clients brief was to deviate away from traditional suburban house planning and create a courtyard house. In response, the layout of the house pivots around a central courtyard concept which all the living spaces and master bedroom open onto. At the centre of the courtyard is an open plan living wing. Bi-folding doors on either side of the central wing fully retract to take advantage of the outdoor spaces on both sides of the house. This strong connection with the outdoors gives the illusion of a much bigger home which is emphasized further with raking ceilings throughout the living.
