Coastal Resilience and Public Realm Upgrade at Westhaven Marina, including the construction of a 300-metre precast concrete seawall

JFC was engaged to deliver the Westhaven Seawall reconstruction—a critical resilience and public realm upgrade project addressing long-term coastal erosion and sea level rise along Auckland’s iconic waterfront. The project involved the reconstruction of 300 metres of seawall at Westhaven Marina, and included over 9,000 tonnes of rock armour revetment placed via barge over the existing sloped wall. This was complemented by the construction of a 300-metre precast concrete wall, significantly strengthening the marina’s coastal defences.

The project delivered a comprehensive public realm upgrade, transforming the marina edge into a safer and more welcoming space for pedestrians, cyclists, and visitors. Improvements included widened footpaths, new tree pits, upgraded street lighting, landscaping, and street furniture.
