Drawing cues from the suburban historic development of Zetland, the design of these 8 residential terraces reflects the environmental history significant to the area. Drawing on this history – the buildings were designed by way of integrating and overlaying notions of the Waterloo Dam and significant vegetation that once existed nearby. The 3-bedroom terraces separate living and sleeping spaces over 3 levels plus a generous additional attic level to optimise solar gain and cross ventilation whilst maintaining privacy for quality interior environments. The distinct character of the continuous façade across the row of terraces is created through gentle transitions in materiality, fenestration and building height – subtly reflecting the different residences without generic repetition.
