At Weathertex, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. We are deeply committed to minimising our environmental footprint while delivering quality, stylish and durable weatherboards and wall panels. All Weathertex products are made from 97% hardwood and 3% paraffin wax. Our unique manufacturing process ensures that our products maintain a better-than-zero carbon footprint ( i.e there is more carbon stored in the timber used to make Weathertex than is produced by its manufacture.

We believe that sustainability extends beyond just our products, it's about creating a holistic approach that includes responsible sourcing of raw material, efficient production practices and fostering a sustainable mindset among our employees, customers and communities.

Made Here. Owned Here.

Weathertex has been made in Heatherbrae, NSW for over 50 years and has been family owned since 1998. In 2024, that commitment was formally recognised with the Australian Owned certification. And more recently, the Natural Range achieved the Australian Made certification too, meaning the full story, from ownership to manufacturing, is now independently verified and on the label.

Local manufacturing means a shorter supply chain, lower transport emissions, and a product you can actually trace back to its source. When you specify WeatherTex, you know exactly where it came from.

PEFC & Responsible Wood Certification: Sustainably Sourced Timber

The sustainability story starts in the forest. Weathertex uses only waste timber sourced locally from PEFC and Responsible Wood certified forests and controlled sources, ensuring that materials come from sustainably managed sources.

PEFC certification tracks forest-based products through the entire supply chain, from a sustainably managed forest to the end product, giving architects and specifiers full confidence in where the material comes from.

Global GreenTag: World-First Platinum Certification

This is where Weathertex's sustainability credentials become truly remarkable. Weathertex became the first manufacture globally, to receive a Global GreenTagCERT™ Platinum certification with a GreenRate R Level A and first in the cladding category to receive platinum Health HealthRate certifcation for Weatherte'x natural range.

GreenTag is the only Certification Mark in the sector approved by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), the US Patents and Trademarks Office, and green building rating tools across the globe. It's not a self-assessed tick, third-party verified ecolabel recognised by Green Star, LEED, BREEAM, and EnviroDevelopment.

The Primed Range, including Selflok weatherboards, Weathergroove architectural panels, and Rubix architectural panels, holds GreenTag Gold Plus re-certification. So whether you're specifying natural or primed products, you're working with independently verified, high-performing sustainable materials.

Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs): Full Transparency

For projects demanding the highest level of environmental accountability, Weathertex has gone further with independently verified EPDs. Weathertex has been awarded four Environmental Product Declarations under the Global GreenTag EPD™ program, compliant with ISO 14025 and EN 15804+A2 standards, providing verified, credible data about the environmental impacts of their products.

EPDs are increasingly required for Green Star projects and are the gold standard for demonstrating a product's true environmental footprint across its full lifecycle. Having four EPDs gives specifiers the granular data they need to make evidence-based material decisions.

Product Health Declaration & Declare Label

Weathertex doesn't stop at environmental performance, they also address human health. Weathertex holds a Product Health Declaration certification from Global GreenTag, being the first Australian cladding company to achieve Platinum certification for their Natural Range — underscoring their commitment to health, sustainability, and providing toxin-free cladding solutions. Weathertex is also now part of the Declare Label Program by the Living Future Institute Australia, a recognition that highlights their commitment to product transparency and sustainability, ensuring customers can make well-informed decisions about the materials they use
