A Natural Boundary for the Maunga

At Pigeon Mountain / Ōhuiarangi, fencing plays an important role in protecting the landscape and guiding people through it. Brustics Natural Eucalypt Fencing provides a practical boundary with a softer, more organic appearance.

As part of the works around the Maunga, Brustics supplied more than 1,000 linear metres of natural Eucalyptus fencing, creating practical boundaries while maintaining a natural, understated presence.

The project involved more than 500 individual panels, supplied in a combination of 0.9 m and 1.3 m heights.

A Softer Approach to Public-Space Fencing

On a project of this scale, fencing needs to do more than simply mark a boundary.

A key consideration was ensuring that such a substantial amount of fencing did not appear overly commercial or intrusive within the landscape. The natural form, colour and variation of Eucalypt provides an effective physical barrier while maintaining a softer appearance.

Its natural character sits comfortably alongside the grasses, planting and wider landscape of the Maunga, creating a boundary that feels considered rather than imposed. This understated aesthetic is particularly well suited to a site with heritage and cultural significance, allowing the fencing to perform its practical role without competing with the character of the Maunga itself.

Natural Materials, Used at Scale

Eucalypt is particularly well suited to landscape settings, with natural variations in colour, shape and texture giving each panel its own character.

These natural characteristics help prevent the fencing from feeling repetitive or overly formal.

Built for Durability, with Minimal Maintenance

For public-space projects, material selection is about more than appearance. Durability, whole-of-life value and ongoing maintenance are important considerations when specifying fencing for a site that needs to perform reliably over time.

Natural Eucalypt fencing provides a robust, long-lasting boundary solution, designed to withstand the demands of an outdoor public environment while requiring minimal ongoing maintenance. The natural weathering of Eucalypt Fencing also allows the material to settle into the landscape over time, rather than requiring regular painting or treatment to maintain its appearance.

For councils and landscape professionals, this means a fencing solution that balances initial investment with long-term performance and a natural appearance.

More Than 1,000 Metres, Carefully Coordinated

Behind the simplicity of the finished installation was a carefully coordinated supply and logistics operation.

Due to the scale of the project, the fencing was specially ordered and imported specifically for the site. Brustics coordinated approximately two 40-foot containers of product, supplying more than 500 panels across the required 0.9 m and 1.3 m heights before coordinating delivery for the works.

A Practical Solution with a Natural Presence

The finished fencing provides practical separation and protection while helping guide people through the site, without detracting from the landscape it sits within.

The project demonstrates how the right natural material can perform an important practical role at scale, while respecting the character, heritage and cultural significance of its setting.
