A hero from our collection is the Hard Floor Oil, crafted as a safe and natural alternative to the polyurethane on your grandfather’s living room floor.

As the world’s eyes continue to widen on the issue of sustainability and how this impacts both the planet and our health, we need to start making better choices. Natural Paint Co. set out with a mission to create change in the coatings industry, with a product range that allows consumers to achieve outstanding results while redefining paints and oil stains for the better.

A hero from our collection is the Hard Floor Oil, crafted as a safe and natural alternative to the polyurethane on your grandfather’s living room floor. Offered in a clear matte finish, this coating enhances character, enriches contrast and can be used on timber, cork or strandboard.

In formulating the product, it was important that it outperformed the market and didn’t include any harsh chemicals. The off gas from polyurethane requires a premise vacation period of 14 days while our VOC free oil can be applied while living in the comfort of your own home without consequence. This simply outlines the difference in what’s actually going down on your floor.

In family homes, this coating is a smart choice for crawlers, chewers and all things that bark. Water resistant properties make it perfect to highlight the beautiful wooden floors of the kitchen or bathroom spaces and, unlike alternatives, it isn’t made with plastic. There’s no cracking, peeling or flaking. Even with little hands and mouths getting up close and personal, there’s no need to worry. This oil is New Zealand made and comes at a lower price than imported alternatives of a similar standard.

You can expect 7 to 10 years of happy memories on your coated floor, with a simple reapplication process that includes light sanding and adding another layer without removing any of the base product. This can be tackled in a single afternoon, depending on the size of your space. While polyurethane seals the material entirely, Hard Floor Oil still allows the timber to breath which extends the wood’s longevity and inhibits mould growth.

Sounding a little too good to be true? It’s not. With a coverage rate of 15m² per litre on the first coat and 20m² thereafter, it’s tough to beat. Drying time is minimal with application of multiple coats within a single day. Three to four coats is all you need depending on foot traffic and it is applied with ease. Whether you’re having a floor sander do the job or getting stuck into a little DIY yourself, you won’t have any flaws with coating your floors.

If you want to go further than just your floors we also have Pure Interior Oil for furniture, bench tops and walls while our Exterior Stain is perfect for the deck or timber cladding.

A mammoth architectural project, ‘Madras Street’ by Coll Architecture won big at the ADNZ awards and featured a range of our oil products including Hard Floor Oil. The project was designed with energy efficiency, sustainability and durability front of mind with a full timber interior. While the property’s owner initially applied a water based varnish on the flooring, after learning of Natural Paint Co. the initial varnish was removed and replaced with our Hard Floor Oil. It was important to the integrity of the project that the values behind the home’s inspiration flowed into every aspect of its creation.

With the health of our planet and families in mind, it’s imperative we look wider when planning to renovate or designing new builds. Natural Paint Co.’s Hard Floor Oil offers a premium experience, elevating your space without compromising the indoor air quality of your home. Protect your floors and they’ll protect your family.
