Daily Cleaning Do’s and Don’ts

To maintain the beauty of your natural stone without damaging the surface, follow these best practices:

✅ What to do:

Use a soft cloth or sponge with warm water and a pH-neutral cleaner
Dry the surface with a microfibre cloth to avoid streaks or water spots
Wipe spills immediately to prevent long-term staining (especially oils, wine, or coffee)
Use cutting boards and trivets to protect the stone from scratches and heat

❌ What to avoid:

Acidic cleaners like vinegar or lemon juice
Harsh chemicals such as bleach, ammonia, or abrasive powders
Scouring pads or steel wool, which can scratch the surface
Letting water or spills sit on the stone for long periods

Should You Seal Natural Stone?

Yes—most natural stone surfaces should be sealed, especially in kitchens and bathrooms where exposure to moisture, oils and staining agents is high.

Benefits of sealing:

Helps prevent permanent staining
Reduces water absorption
Enhances the stone’s natural colour
Makes daily cleaning easier

How often?

Every 1–2 years for most residential applications
Some sealers offer up to 10 years of protection depending on usage and product type
A simple water droplet test can help indicate when it's time to reseal

Maintaining Stone Long-Term

To keep your stone performing and looking as good as the day it was installed:

Re-seal as needed, especially if surfaces see heavy use
Clean with stone-specific products if you want to preserve polish or reduce etching
Have chips or surface damage professionally restored—avoid DIY repairs

Stone is strong and enduring, but it’s also a living material—treating it with care will ensure its beauty lasts a lifetime.
