Honeycomb blinds are enjoying a renaissance in popularity. We explore the attributes that make this blind an essential consideration in your window treatment planning.
Cordless control Honeycomb blinds can be operated manually or with automation. Blinds can be positioned for sun, light, glare and privacy requirements.
Well known for their insulating properties, Honeycomb blinds are enjoying a renaissance in popularity for both energy savings as well as their soft, sleek modern aesthetic.
Their unique structured honeycomb cells address a number of concerns by trapping air to create an insulating barrier that assists regulating room temperatures in winter and summer and also provides sound absorption from outside.
According to Consumer NZ testing* the Honeycomb blind retained more heat than any other kind of window treatment, nearly 60 per cent more than is lost through an uncovered window. Its nearest competitor was a well-fitted Roman blind at just under 30 per cent with even floor-length, heavy, lined curtains only breaking 25 per cent.
As a component of their continuous research and development Window Treatments NZ Ltd has researched, tested and upgraded its Honeycomb blind range. Managing Director, Graeme Rose said, “More and more people are enquiring about honeycomb blinds, not only for their energy efficiency but also following trends to a softer home aesthetic. “Honeycomb blinds in new updated fabrics and colours offer an attractive combination of high fashion, good value, easy installation and convenient operation.”
Rose says the new Window Treatments’ Honeycomb Pleated Blinds are available in black-out, semi opaque, hemp, transparent and knitted fabrics. “Combining a blackout and light filtering fabric, for example, in a single blind enables a Day Night solution with honeycomb pleated fabrics lowering from the top and raising from the bottom.”
“The top-down adjustment allows a view or sunlight at the top of the window whilst maintaining privacy below. Cordless control options have sleek adjustable handles; or homeowners can select full motorisation/automation.” Rose adds that “many customers are selecting blinds without cord control for safety concerns for young children.”
“We still offer a manually controlled clutch blind with a looped cord, however we always install safety cord locks and remind homeowners to be vigilant in using them.”
Rose says the new honeycomb pleated fabric range is technically advanced and has excellent longevity. “The quality of fabric, a modern streamlined aesthetic, and refined finish are sought after by homeowners who see an upgrade to Honeycomb blinds as an investment in energy efficiency and stylish home renovation.”
