Designed with care and built to last, the original concept behind the Erskine sofa was to create a piece that provided exceptional comfort while maintaining durability and elegance. Justin Hutchinson, Design Director of Kett, states that “In a world crowded by poorly made things; it is a pleasure and a privilege to spend each day working on products that are designed to last”. Erskine is no exception, not designed to be loved for only one trend cycle, or one home - but to be cherished, passed down and cared for by future generations to come.
An Erskine modular sofa was recently featured the Cape Schanck project, designed by Rod Hannah Design Group and Cantilever Interiors. This home sits enveloped by the native teatree scrub atop of Gunnamatta Beach on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula. Both architecture and interiors were inspired by an Australian narrative and it was a privilege to continue the story inside the home with the use of Kett furniture, designed and made in Australia. The Erskine sofa became the centrepiece of the space, creating a final resting place for sitting amongst friends and family taking in the scenic beach views.
Another project that features the Erskine sofa is the beautiful Elwood home. Designed by Fieldwork Architects, this series of townhouses were built atop the traditional lands of the Yaluk-ut Weelam Clan. This contemporary home celebrates Australian design and craftsmanship through its carefully considered use of tones textures that reference its immediate landscape. The homeowners thoughtfully looked to Kett to fully furnish the interior where we were able to see the Erskine in a home setting for the first time.
