ForestOne has partnered with the 2022 Sustainability Awards as a sponsor of the Green Building Material category, fostering ecologically sustainable design.

The belief that building a greener future begins with the materials we use sits at ForestOne’s core, and its support of The Sustainability Awards and its entrants is a direct reflection of this.

As the largest distributor of plywood, timber, laminate and decorative surface materials in Australia, ForestOne is committed to sourcing and supplying products that meet high social, environmental and economic standards. Its mission to promote a more sustainable built environment transcends its extensive product range, as the company strives to support wider initiatives sharing this goal. As such, ForestOne has partnered with the 2022 Sustainability Awards as sponsor of the Green Building Material category, recognising ecologically sustainable design.

Now in its 16th year, The Sustainability Awards is Australia’s longest running awards program dedicated to acknowledging and celebrating sustainable design and architecture. Hosted by InDesign Media’s Architecture & Design magazine, the extensive awards commend initiatives and individuals demonstrating an informed approach to building, as well as to long-term sustainability through a positive cultural, social or economic contribution to the local community. The belief that building a greener future begins with the materials used sits at ForestOne’s core, and its support of The Sustainability Awards and its entrants is a direct reflection of this.

There are five primary categories: ‘People’, ‘Projects’, ‘Innovation’, ‘Editor’s Choice’ and ‘Best of the Best’. The Green Building Material award sits within the ‘Innovation’ category and represents an exciting array of building products that are renewable, environmentally responsible and where the impact is considered over its lifetime. As the dedicated sponsor of this award, ForestOne continues its ongoing enquiry into a greener future, encouraging the innovation, education and widespread use of responsible products and materials. The entrance criteria address each material’s longevity, research and ability to transfer across uses and concepts, resulting in a strong showcase of compelling products and materials in the Australian market.

Among the other categories, ‘People’ recognises up-and-coming and established architects and designers with an ‘Emerging and a Lifetime Achievement’ award. The ‘Projects’ category is extensive, with nods to commercial architecture, adaptive re-use, landscape and urban design, multi-residential and single dwellings, and more. Finally, ‘Editor’s Choice’ is awarded by the Architecture & Design editorial team. As a new category, it recognises projects for their social and community outcomes.

Sustainable practices and products in the architecture and design industry are of ever-increasing importance, and The Sustainability Awards are a platform that showcases advances in the field. ForestOne’s support of the awards not only aligns with the company’s philosophy around responsible material specification but encourages the more widespread celebration of sustainable design at large.
