Why Premium Timber Coatings Matter: Inside Siegware's Partnership with ADLER

Timber has long been valued in architecture for its warmth, natural beauty and versatility. Whether used for windows, doors, façades or interior joinery, it brings character and performance to residential and commercial projects alike. However, timber's longevity depends not only on the quality of the material itself, but also on the coating system that protects it.

As the Australian and New Zealand distributor of ADLER Coatings, Siegware provides architects, builders and fabricators with access to premium European coating systems engineered to enhance the durability, appearance and lifespan of timber.

European Innovation Built on Nearly a Century of Expertise

Founded in Austria in 1934, ADLER has become one of Europe's leading manufacturers of timber coating systems. With almost 100 years of continuous innovation, the family-owned company has earned the trust of architects, window manufacturers and timber specialists worldwide through its commitment to quality, technical performance and sustainability.

Today, ADLER continues to develop advanced water-based coating technologies that meet the evolving demands of modern construction while preserving the natural beauty of timber.

Protecting Timber for Long-Term Performance

Timber naturally responds to changes in temperature and moisture by expanding and contracting. Without the right protection, prolonged exposure to UV radiation, rain and humidity can affect both its appearance and durability.

ADLER coating systems are specifically engineered to work with timber rather than against it. Their breathable formulations help regulate moisture while providing long-lasting protection against weathering, UV exposure and everyday wear. The result is timber that retains its natural character while delivering reliable performance throughout its service life.

Coating Systems for Architectural Timber Applications

Siegware supplies a range of ADLER coating systems designed for professional timber applications across residential and commercial projects.

Aquawood provides advanced water-based coating systems for timber windows and exterior doors, delivering outstanding weather resistance, moisture protection and long-term durability.

Lignovit offers interior and exterior timber coatings that protect exposed timber while enhancing the natural grain and character of the wood.

Natureffekt creates an ultra-natural interior finish that preserves the authentic look and feel of untreated timber while providing practical everyday protection.

Each system has been developed to meet the specific performance requirements of architectural timber applications, enabling designers and builders to select the most appropriate solution for their project.

Supporting Sustainable Building Practices

As sustainability becomes an increasingly important consideration in building design, coating systems also play a role in improving long-term environmental performance.

ADLER continues to invest in water-based technologies, low-emission formulations and environmentally responsible manufacturing processes. Durable coating systems help extend the service life of timber components, reducing maintenance requirements and supporting more sustainable construction outcomes over the life of the building.

Local Expertise Backed by Global Innovation

While ADLER brings decades of European coating expertise, Siegware provides local product knowledge, technical support and reliable supply throughout Australia and New Zealand.

Whether specifying coatings for timber windows, architectural joinery, façades or interior timber elements, architects, builders and fabricators can access a comprehensive range of ADLER solutions supported by local expertise.

Protecting timber is about more than preserving its appearance—it's about ensuring the long-term performance, durability and value of every project.
