Paper I explores what happens when a new material is pushed beyond its expected boundaries. Made from imi-Paper, a newly developed, Red Dot Award-winning material, the design takes a raw element designed for interior wall cladding and transforms it into a distinct piece of joinery.

At first glance, the sideboard presents a quiet, restrained presence. Its crisp white exterior is defined by the crinkled texture of the imi-Paper, creating an immediate tactile moment that invites closer inspection. Opening the doors reveals a dramatic shift in character: a bright orange lacquered interior delivers a second striking visual contrast, playing unexpected vibrancy against the calm outer shell.

Designed by Klaus Todt as part of Collection 42, Paper I originated from a simple curiosity to take a material further and rethink its application possibilities.

Paper I provides functional storage alongside a strong sculptural presence. It offers a new way to introduce subtle contrast and material character, proving that remarkable outcomes occur when you explore beyond the familiar.
