Talking Chair I

Talking Chairs explores the dynamic of interaction, reframing a set of two seats into an active dialogue within a space. Designed by Klaus Todt as part of Collection 42, the pair challenges traditional seating by examining how geometry can express relationship, connection, and shifting perspective.

Defined by clean angles and a bold, block-like silhouette, each chair is built from complementary pastel forms that play off one another. The design’s true distinction lies in its adaptability: depending on how the pair is positioned, the backrests lean intentionally toward each other or angle away. This duality invites quiet interpretations of affection or aversion, allowing the arrangement to change the energy of the room.

Designed for interiors, Talking Chairs offers an expressive seating pair for open living areas, galleries, or foyers. It brings a sculptural presence to the floor while proving that furniture can spark conversation through form alone.
