A LIGHT AND BREEZY COASTAL HOME THAT EMBRACES BEACHSIDE FAMILY LIVING…
A short stroll from the rugged and beautiful 13th Beach, this house is sure to cope with the new coastal lifestyle that our clients have recently adopted. Sitting amongst the native garden, the rammed earth walls encapsulate the coastal and organic feel of the beach, with the timber, battened first-floor wrapping around the prominent entry corner, the curve being both a nod to the ocean and a response to the site. The design responds intrinsically to the site's orientation as well as the neighbouring properties.
Designed for a busy family of five, the house is zoned to accommodate all generations and is intended to be the ‘forever' house as the family grows up and lifestyles change over time. The kitchen and dining areas sit at the heart of the house, bringing the family together and anchoring the spaces. A guest wing and games room space are strategically separated from the main living areas, whilst upstairs accommodates all bedrooms and the ultimate work-from-home space with an outlook through the curved facade (with gym included for when the zoom calls get too much). Finishes are selected to be natural, robust, earthy and warm.
Eliza Blair Architecture is a collaborative design practice working across metropolitan, rural and coastal Victoria. We are dedicated to creating beautiful spaces that reflect our client's lifestyles and values, combined with our core values of purpose and sustainability.
We love to seek out design opportunities that may arise from the characteristics of the site, as well as the particular nuances of how our clients live.
