Luxurious contemporary remodelling of a waterfront property in Sydney's Pittwater, completed in 2020, featuring high-end materials and sophisticated design elements that reflect a relaxed Australian lifestyle.

A water-front property on idyllic Sydney’s Pittwater called for a luxurious remodelling. The brief was to provide a sophisticated landing pad for our well-travelled client, who appreciates luxury and life’s finer things. We remained cognisant the final result had to fit in the relaxed Australian lifestyle but steered away from traditional beach house or a Hamptons-inspired renovation; instead, we took our design cues from the 5 and 6-star hotels of the world. This significant renovation and redecoration project transformed this house over a concentrated period of 6-7 months.

In this generously proportioned home, we used a palette of beautiful natural materials, marble, limestone and dark timbers, and played with scale and balance in the soaring double-storey void in the living room. High-end fixtures and furnishings evoke a sense of luxury and comfort while artwork and lighting add colour and lustre to the more sombre tones.

The spectacular 7.5 metre media wall with stunning book-matched limestone slabs in deep grey and gold veins displays an oversized state-of-the-art TV and recessed fireplace. Custom shelving with decorative grille cabinets for any media storage needs sit on either side of the central panel.

The masculine palette was continued into the master bedroom that was painted in a smoky midnight blue, while the feature wall behind the bed was wrapped in hand-woven silk wallpaper in the same tonal colour. In order to create the luxurious, contemporary master suite that our client desired, the space had to be redefined and expanded; the existing walk-in-robe and ensuite were gutted and combined resulting in a large area for the new master ensuite, while the adjoining study was widened and enclosed to create a much more spacious walk-in-robe.
