This project exudes a sense of bravery and warmth. It defines the client’s love of colour along with being deeply in tune with the unique bush clad environment. Our client had lived in the 1980’s weatherboard home for several years before embarking on a renovation in 2021. The new plans involved connecting the existing house and sleepout with a contemporary, light filled architectural ‘bridge’ clad in Signal Red Nu-Wall. We were tasked with invigorating and developing the interior spaces. Our brief was to welcome in the surrounding landscape and create a modern Log Cabin aesthetic.
Drawing from the clients love of primary colour and the bold exterior cladding choice, we selected several key materials to sustainably inject both colour and functional durability for this family of four. We used the colours to drive the definition of each space, and utilised bold and raw material choices to connect with the surrounding environment. Strandboard was used extensively as interior cladding for floors and walls to relay a low fuss, 'doc hut' kind of warmth in connection with the proposed new red joinery and structural steel. The house is now strongly individual with a sense of energy and warmth.

at.space's ethos is that design is more than just pure creativity - it is considered, functional, and precise, as well as beautiful. We create spaces to live in, not just to admire, and our clients are at the centre of this process.
at.space was launched in 2019 by Alex McLeod and Tomi Williams. Working alongside each other as friends and colleagues for 8 years, we have realised the greatness of two minds over one, when creating beautiful spaces that work and matter for our clients. Combining forces was an opportunity for us to grow and continue to provide well-considered and debated design solutions. Or simply put; more depth, more capacity, more creativity and double the passion, for every project we touch."
Our experience designing interior spaces for large-scale renovations, new builds and commercial spaces spans over 20 years. Our growing team includes Kirsty Coultier (Studio Project Manager), Tori Gibbs and Victoria Gaylard (Project Support and CAD team).
