A home comfortable for two but capable of sleeping 22 was part of the lengthy brief we had from overseas clients for their newly acquired section. Home for them is in America but, with family in New Zealand they wanted to create a holiday home that worked for them and visiting family.
We presented three concept plans for their build and one was the clear winner. The design and build was a two story 468m2 home with all living downstairs and five bedrooms, four bathrooms upstairs. Two of the upstairs bedrooms have custom bunk beds to achieve the extra beds required.
The angled kitchen island creates an easy flow to the dining room, family room and outdoor BBQ area. A separate lounge and games room housing the pool table is beyond the barn door and leads outdoors through large sliders to the concrete pool table outside.
With only two visits from the clients during the build we had regular zoom and facetime calls, they were great to work with as they had a clear vision for their new home and articulated it well within their initial brief.
Exposed beams, interior ceiling batons, fireplace and exterior stone features give this home its own style. We sourced custom made pieces made from recycled Rimu from WRW & Co (as requested by the clients) and included it in custom features (island bar top, desk and stair capping) as well as the 12 seater dining room table.
Large double garaging and a single garage for toys and a lift are practical elements of the home while the bi-folding doors and large sliders create easy indoor and outdoor flow to the private garden and deck areas.
We are Leigh and Katrina, the founders of Home & Lifestyle.
Passionate about property we were always hunting out ideas for the houses we bought, developed and sold. It was more than a hobby for us, it was a passion.
That passion grew to a business when Home & Lifestyle Ltd was born.
Now, we get to live that passion every day. Even better than that, we get to use our passion to create dream homes for our clients too.
Do you spend hours fantasising about your dream home?
Yes, so did we. In fact, our children fondly remember that our most common weekend activity was “open homing”.
It would be our pleasure to help you turn your Home & Lifestyle dreams into reality.
