The building brief for this home was "a holiday home that gives us the space we need, has a relaxed, casual bach feel and fits with what we need for summer fun with friends and family."  

There was a small two bedroom 1970's home on the site so, while working through the design process we managed to organise a sale and removal of the old bach, making way for the new bach to be built.

The final design for this 172m2 home focused on an open plan living area, with covered decks on both sides and full wall bi-folding doors, creating a space that opens right up to the outdoors. 

The clients didn't want the formality of an entrance door, bi-folding doors with a lockable door section was used instead for the front entrance.  The living area has a high pitched v-groove ceiling with a long kitchen featuring a 3.1m stone island. The kitchen features many draws and a garage cupboard for tea and coffee, toast etc.  These garage cupboards are a great  quick and easy solution to accessing appliances and keeping your kitchen benches clear.  A combination of stone and stainless benches were used in the kitchen.

Three bedrooms, separate guest toilet, wet room ensuite and main bathroom with fully tiled walk-in showers means easy cleaning and maintenance.  Guest toilet, big hall cupboard storage, custom laundry within the fully insulated garage gives the home additional comfortable and versatile space.  

An outdoor shower to wash off the sand from the beach was a must and the outdoor kitchen on the back deck adds to the relaxed holiday home experience.  The existing sleep out on the site was modernised with matching joinery and new paint to match the new holiday home. All in all hitting the brief for this family and their holiday home.
