This family were looking for a turn key affordable new home solution that suited their young families needs while getting them into their own home. We offered to design them a home that worked on a site in the Otahu Heights Subdivision in Whangamata.
During the design process it became clear that the desire to have a fourth bedroom was important for this family who wanted the space for out of town friends and family to stay. They liked simple contempary lines and decided on a long gable roofed home in the dark and dramatic colour of Ironsand for the joinery, board and batten cladding and COLORSTEEL roof. Contrast and impact against the dark colouring was created with a cedar sectional garage door and entrance door. The interior plan provided the master bedroom, ensuite and walk in wardrobe with an open plan living, dining and kitchen area with a v-grooved pitched ceiling that gave the area an element of space and height that made it appear bigger than it was.
North facing full wall bi-folding doors off the lounge area gave the desired indoor outdoor flow. FX180 formica was used for the kitchen island in a bold design with the other kitchen cabinetry chosen in a neutral grey and the spashback tiles were carried the length of the back wall in a grey blue that tied in beautifully. The black kitchen handles and tap with the black accented island lights bring the exterior colour in with this subtle link.
First off the hall from the living on the right is the separate WC, then the bathroom that showcases an alcove style freestanding bath and an alcove acrylic shower, leaving the bathroom roomy and open. The three bedrooms, one with a ranchslider onto the deck, run off the hall at the other end of the house that leads to the large double 7mx7m garage with laundry area and large storage cupboard. Attic stairs and storage within the garage ceiling were another wish list item we managed to get into this very personalized house and land turn key package, that has become their much loved home.
We are Leigh and Katrina, the founders of Home & Lifestyle.
Passionate about property we were always hunting out ideas for the houses we bought, developed and sold. It was more than a hobby for us, it was a passion.
That passion grew to a business when Home & Lifestyle Ltd was born.
Now, we get to live that passion every day. Even better than that, we get to use our passion to create dream homes for our clients too.
Do you spend hours fantasising about your dream home?
Yes, so did we. In fact, our children fondly remember that our most common weekend activity was “open homing”.
It would be our pleasure to help you turn your Home & Lifestyle dreams into reality.
