The Britten Stables was awarded Joint Winner of the Domestic Restored and Saved Heritage Award 2021. It also featured on Grand Designs.

At 120 years old, the original building began as the stables for the Monavale Lodge. It was bought by John Britten and converted into both a home, and a workshop where he built his legendary V1000 motorcycle.

The home was severely damaged in the Christchurch earthquakes, with the insurance company initially writing the home off . The family came to Archon Architecture to help them with extensive repairs and to modernise the dwelling, creating a beautiful space for a young family to live.

Archon Architecture also designed the New York-style loft apartment located in a seperate dwelling to welcome guests onto the stunning property.
