Campbelltown Art Gallery: A vibrant hub for contemporary arts featuring exhibition spaces, a theatre, artist residences, and a café, all designed with environmentally sustainable principles and overlooking serene Japanese Gardens.
Client: Campbelltown City Council
Campbelltown’s Arts Centre is designed to support innovative contemporary art programs for the region’s communities. The design of the Centre embraces all forms of the visual, performing, literary, and new media arts. The foyer provides the access hub for gallery exhibition spaces, the 180-seat theatre, an artist residence apartment, art workshops, gallery shop, and cafe. The cafe caters to functions at the gallery with an outdoor terrace overlooking the Japanese Gardens and an outdoor sculpture collection. Environmentally Sustainable Development principles guide the architecture and include external sun protection to glazed areas, natural lighting, energy-efficient equipment, and stormwater capture for reuse.
