Tongariro is a new build with a special link to local history. The brickwork was all reclaimed and recycled from the iconic Duncan’s Building in Christchurch, which was destroyed in the 2011 earthquakes.

In this case, the inspiration was found in demolition bricks reclaimed and recycled from the iconic Duncan’s building in central Christchurch, which fell in the 2011 earthquakes. The Tongariro project showcases a modern family home that perfectly integrates historic reclaimed brick into its exterior treatments. The use of reclaimed materials not only gives the home a special character, but also improves its overall sustainability credentials.
