State-of-the-art coolstore and packhouse facility for Golden Bay Fruit in Motueka, featuring 20,000m² of space, automated packaging technology, and reinforced concrete structures, completed in 2019.
CLIENT: Golden Bay Fruit
LOCATION: Motueka
COMPLETED: 2019
AREA: 20000m²
Having outgrown their existing facility in Motueka, Golden Bay Fruit decided to invest in a new coolstores and packhouse development. Apollo Projects was employed to complete both the design and construction - one of the key reasons Apollo was chosen to complete their new facility was due to the understanding of the importance this facility has to their brand – this is not just a pack house and cool storage facility.
This impressive new state of the art facility was developed in three stages, comprising a total floor area of 20,000m² to accommodate eight new coolstores along with an automated packhouse, drive-through canopies and offices.
The packhouse includes a large reinforced concrete mezzanine that links through to an automated packaging plant. Reinforced concrete floors throughout the facility have been installed to serve various loads and uses. Kingspan product has been installed to insulate and fireproof the building, which incorporates automated apple sorting and packaging technology.
