Gramercy Terraces is shaped by the Heritage precinct of Bendigo Street on the grounds of the former ‘Studio Nine’ which was also once the site of the Wertheim Piano Factory. Using predominantly Australian materials, Wertheim pianos quickly became the piano of choice for renowned performers including Australian opera singer Dame Nellie Melba. While Channel 9 Studios was home to some of Australia’s favourite shows.
Today the heritage-listed building retains many of its original features. Its aesthetic has been re-interpreted in a modern vocabulary for timeless appeal. The two-stage townhouse rollout at the GTV-9 site consist of 28 3 and 4 bedroom residences.
Each new terrace home on Bendigo Street includes Miele appliances, artisan tapware, Italian stone, tiles, pavers, and a designer Jean Francois D’ light pendant artistically suspended over an expansive stone kitchen island bench. The combination of strategically placed skylights and void space encourages natural light to flood the interiors and the central floating timber staircase, creating a focal point of light and warmth to the centre point of each of these breathtaking residences.
