The Greythorn Community Hub represents the consolidation of a variety of crucial community-based services and the rehousing of existing services currently on the significantly sloping site.
The design reconciles minimised public amenity impact with overland flows, an extensive basement car-park, and multifaceted program requirements into a terraced form that cradles around a large, activated landscape area to the southeast.
The building accommodates a small library, community rooms, maternal child health facility, health-related consultant rooms together with a privately operated child-care facility and podiatry facility as well as a new home for the local RSL chapter currently occupying the site.
The Anzac spirit of the existing RSL together with its memorabilia and heritage will be infused throughout the new facility, creating a narrative and direct connection with the site’s history while honouring the generosity of the RSL for donating the site to the council for this development. The development will also achieve a minimum green star 5-star target rating.
