Kyal and Kara are almost part of the furniture in Australia, well known for completing two reality renovation television shows, home renovation is their passion. The couple began renovating over 10 years ago when they purchased their first home, fast forward a few years and they now run a successful Design & Construction Business and are regulars on the television show ‘The Living Room’.

Kyal and Kara’s latest project called Blue Lagoon is their brand new, forever home, a beach shack do-up by the sea. The busy family have designed an idyllic home with an Australian coastal meets Mediterranean villa vibe, which sits perfectly against the seaside backdrop.

The starting point for the entire build was on the premise that kids could be seen outside from the kitchen or living area so an open plan space was designed in a way that created zones with the space, and linked the interior with the exterior. A well connected home that offers plenty of space was the goal.

A relaxed and calming palette of neutrals were selected throughout the home and floor to ceiling sheer curtains feature in the kitchen, living and dining space, bathing the rooms in filtered light. Curtain fabric in Allusion by Zepel achieves the soft relaxed aesthetic the couple had envisioned.
