Cradle Design worked with Property Beyond and builder CDI Group to deliver the commercial renovation and new-build works for the Lion and Little Creatures waterfront workplace. Given a tight timeframe, Cradle was tasked by Lion to repurpose an ageing and disused waterfront hospitality venue beside the iconic Little Creatures Brewery in Fremantle. The renovated site would become their new state sales office and hospitality venue.

Taking full advantage of the iconic waterfront venue and wrap-around boardwalk, the new corporate office layout provides accommodation for the Lion Western Australia state team and Little Creatures brewery staff as well as shared meeting, function and breakout facilities. The workplace incorporated familiar Lion national workplace settings within the design, which reflected the location, high-pitched ceilings and structure of the venue.

To form the new workplace design, two distinct workstation areas and casual meeting spaces were separated from the multi-functional kitchen, bar and adjoining meeting rooms. The stunning wrap-around balcony, perched over the water was another staff area that could be utilised for meetings. To allow the multifunctional space to operate successfully in various configurations, Acoustic wall and ceiling treatments were incorporated into the design of the high-vaulted ceiling areas. The main high ceiling and exposed services were painted black, as a backdrop to the new design elements and in keeping with the corporate office layout of the Little Creatures complex.

The scope of works included sectioning part of the facility as a leasable hospitality venue, to service the general public on the popular waterfront boardwalk. The upgrade works to the base-building involved in-water works (the building cantilevers over the water), new roof sheeting and insulation, new mechanical plant, upgraded amenities and new access to the workplace through the Little Creatures complex.

Cradle Design provided corporate architecture and office interior design services for a variety of projects on the Little Creatures Brewery site.
