Looking back from Eastend beach is this luxuriously contemporary home sitting on top of its elevated site.

The home’s overlapping roof planes give it a sense that they are floating a-top of the home. The site naturally flows from the street entry down toward the ocean and the palm tree-lined approach allows you to pause for a moment before you turn to the north and the floating pre-cast concrete stair entry.

The single-level home is cleverly proportioned and packed with many high-tech features, boasting three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a separate office, separate laundry, two-car garaging, statement entranceway, covered outdoor living spaces, an outdoor fireplace, and a covered private spa pool area.

The design also cleverly responds to the client’s need for a completely accessible home. Future-proofing for unobstructed navigation throughout the house was a key criterion for the client and has been provided for through oversizing access ways and openings, and providing all level thresholds including a walk-in shower in the master ensuite.

A glimpse of the beautiful Mount Taranaki is captured through a framed window opening. On a clear day, you can be standing on the beach looking back towards the home with the captivating Mountain standing proudly above.

A key aspect of achieving maximising space for this identified in the planning stages, where it was determined to retain areas of the existing house, allowing classification of the building as alterations and additions.
