Reflective of the traditional Queensland workers cottage, this Brisbane development project combined traditional materials within a modern design framework. Tim Stewart Architects designed with 5-bedroom home to capture the north-easterly aspect with a large outdoor entertaining room, cleverly shaded by a blockwork screen.
The home combines white weatherboard cladding, complete with traditional battens, concrete, timber features and brick in a neutral pallet, offset with black aluminium windows, doors and HH600 Heka Hoods wrapping around the top level.
Positioning the hoods above the windows ensures that the interior is shaded from the northern sun in winter without relying on unsightly eaves which would have impacted the design intent of the project. The result is a modern home that is comfortable in both the summer and winter months.
Create beautiful lines simply with Heka Hoods bracket-less awning systems.
Pioneering the first one-piece awning system available in Australia and internationally, Heka Hoods is an awning system without brackets, providing minimalist styling with functional protection from the elements.
The awning hoods can be used as a single piece over a window or door or wrap around a building's façade.
Suitable for residential, industrial, and commercial buildings and specified by architects, building designers, developers, builders and renovators.
