When Scott Duddley, owner of Newton Gordge Joinery, was briefed on Marbles Buffet Restaurant selecting a durable, attractive material for the tabletops was one of the top priorities. “The architects wanted to get away from using tablecloths.”

Scott, who had used Plymasters’ Euro Birch on a number of previous projects was convinced it would be the perfect choice. Ultimately, he also used the Birch for the ceilings, dados, and divider screens giving the entire restaurant a sleek, professional look.

For the tables, the warm colouring was further enhanced, and protected, by the painstaking application of layers of clear spray. Two years later, this finish is as immaculate as the day it was completed and contrasts beautifully with the distinctive edge grain.

Scott says the Birch works well with the other materials in the restaurant fit-out, and has helped create the perfect setting for countless birthday parties, celebrations, and team dinners.
