Moncks bay, Christchurch banner

A new two-storey dwelling of mixed construction including timber-framing, isolated steelwork and a concrete foundation. The house has four bedrooms and a total floor area of approximately 380 m2.

The key design challenges revolved around the house being built on a TC2 site and within a flood zone. Pocket proposed a waffle slab foundation with a suspended CLT ground floor raised above the flood level.

The architectural design created a number of design challenges to allow for cantilevered floor areas, overhanging bay windows and bespoke eaves details around windows.
