Project team
Accumen collaborated with Architectus, Aspect Construction and Allied Exteriors to reinstate the Old Choral Hall portico, using 3D scanning, printing and precision moulding to reproduce heritage profiles and deliver over 1,500 components with millimetre accuracy for the University of Auckland.
From 2020–2025 Accumen worked alongside Architectus, Aspect Construction (main contractor) and Allied Exteriors (installation) on the complete reinstatement of the Old Choral Hall portico.
Using detailed 3D scans provided by the project team, Accumen 3D printed masters and developed high-precision moulds to faithfully reproduce the original neo-classical profiles. Over 1,500 individual moulded components were manufactured and supplied for the portico reinstatement, achieving millimetre-accurate alignment with the heritage façade while integrating with the new seismically upgraded structure. The result is a genuine team effort that restores the building’s historic street presence on Symonds Street while delivering contemporary performance and durability for the University of Auckland campus.
