The site is located by the bay with gorgeous views of the Mornington peninsular.

It was a difficult sandy site complete with its own valley. The strategy was to create a carved - open ended box that framed views of the bay.

The client required a large garage which was submersed, bunkered into the sand and providing most of the soil retention. Locating the living spaces above enabled the spaces to be elevated, taking full advantage of the bay views. The connection to water and greenery provides instant calm.

Using high performing double glazing and an open pergola / canopy, it not only provided shade to north facing facade, it framed the views to the bay beyond. East and west glazing elements were designed with screening to direct overlooking and reduce solar heat gain.

A restrained warm pallet of materials ensures a welcome homely environment. The home is Anchored by an Earthy lime stone wall which continues from inside – out and directs the view toward the bay.
