Pole House
From the front this Taupo house is perfectly level with the pavement. However, prior to building the section dropped away steeply from the pavement. Ian and his team consulted and worked with engineers in order to build and infill a retaining wall to support the front part of the house and to install wooden support poles and beams to support the back two-thirds of the single storey home.
This also included altering the pole and bracing design/layout to enable the clients to park their motorhome between the poles under the house. This home was also built to standards exceeding the NZ Building Code – as covered further in our section about Healthy Homes.
