ABOUT THE PROJECT
If there are two things SDA is about, it’s passion and people. That’s why we couldn’t wait to work with Popolo Artisan Gelateria, owned and run by Italians keen to share their love of gelato with the “popolo” (people) of Newcastle.
Working closely with the clients and their team, our role was to develop and document the design, ensuring that their vision was brought to life during construction. Working with an irregular shaped tenancy meant that detail and creative use of space was essential, whilst still meeting all relevant food and health standards.
Ultimately, we aimed to capture the aesthetically beautiful world of artisan gelato. Utilising v-groove panelling, brass detailing, porcelain tiles and ornate lighting, Popolo at The Junction Fair Shopping Centre is a visual feast, immersing each customer in this ‘la vita dolce’ (sweet life).
As a team of architects, designers and project managers with local knowledge and international experience, we are constantly putting our skills to the test to create outstanding design solutions for our clients across the multi-residential, workplace, education, health, retail, community, residential, industrial and hospitality sectors.
Architecture is expressive, innovative and creative, but it’s also about solving problems and overcoming limits. Our team challenge the status quo, elevate clients’ missions, and seek to measurably improve lives and communities.
