Queenstown Catenary Lighting project showcases the cultural heritage of the region through gold light poles and Kowhaiwhai designs, integrating local iwi values while utilizing Ronstan ACS2 Type 1 stainless steel cables for a stunning illumination solution.
Kāi Tahu representatives (three local iwis combined - Kai Tahu, Kati Mamoe and Waitaha) worked closely with the established design team to integrate the culture and values of the region to the forefront of what we see in the Beach Street upgrades.
Gold light poles express the rich mining history of whero (gold) with ‘whero’ clearly visible on select poles. The pole designs also represent travel by waka with a beautiful contrasting Kowhaiwhai design.
SRS was contracted to install Ronstan ACS2 Type 1 catenary stainless steel 316 cables for the lights to hang from. Pole installation by others.
