The project was completed in Oct 2020 - it was a spec build which Right Angle Construction designed and built in Redcliffs, Christchurch. Right Angle Construction did the house design (including interior, joinery and lighting design) and the landscape design. Taf and the crew built this beautiful house, and completed the landscaping. Right Angle Construction also designed and made all of the internal pendant lights with the exception of one in the en suite.

“We purchased a new home in Christchurch that was designed by Jenny and constructed by Taf. The vision, planning and workmanship that has gone into this beautiful home and garden is second to none.

Taf’s calm, professional manner, eye to detail and perfection, along with Jenny’s vision both inside and out, make a truly remarkable team who won’t disappoint. Sustainable building materials; eco friendly design; bespoke joinery and light fittings, along with smart choice in the site location and the low maintenance, native landscaping, make us never want to leave home. Right Angle Construction were contracted to add a further living space to this outstanding home, and we can’t recommend Taf and Jenny highly enough. Right Angle Construction are the best of the best - we are always more than happy to show our home to prospective clients - it’s many features that make it so special.”

About the
Professional

Located in Christchurch, we are Registered Master Builders specialising in architectural work - both new builds and renovations.

Happy clients are our priority. If you are looking for a builder who will listen to your needs, and provide a tailor-made solution to meet your requirements, we think you've found the right angle.

Director Taf Barrie started the company in 2010. Since then he and his team have completed a variety of projects, from renovations to new builds, for both individual clients and larger commercial projects. We generally focus on local work, fitting with the company’s commitment to eco-conscious building practices.

Experienced in new architectural builds and hill work, we are also happy to look at your renovation project. Achieving your dream is our focus, and we are passionate about doing this - we offer a wide range of building and/or design services.

Taf Barrie

Taf qualified as a carpenter/joiner in the UK in 1984. He worked on the tools in Britain and Germany until leaving Europe in 1990. His travels led him to New Zealand, where he fell in love with the country and lifestyle.

A New Zealand resident for over twenty-five years, he has worked in the industry since arriving. Working as a foreman/site manager for over twenty years, he has never lost his love of carpentry. Testament to this is his reputation for achieving a quality finish, whilst providing a common sense approach to managing projects within budget.

Taf enjoys developing good relationships with clients, and the professionals, craftsmen and suppliers he works with - he has a good eye for design, combined with practical knowledge and a wealth of experience on how to best achieve the finished product.

Jenny Cunningham

Jenny runs the design consultancy and administration side of Right Angle. With twenty years of business management experience, Jenny keeps the off-site administration running smoothly, ensuring that Taf can focus on his area of expertise.

Having worked in a variety of design positions all her working life, Jenny’s design aesthetic has been augmented with practical building experience during the last twenty years. What started as a serendipitous transition into building design has become a passion, with Jenny having now completed a wide range of design projects - from small renovations and joinery design, through to complete house builds. What she most enjoys is the challenge of keeping within a client’s brief, whilst bringing something more to the table. As far as she’s concerned, the phrase “it’s exactly what we wanted, but we’d never have thought of it” is what successful design is all about.

At ArchiPro we recognise and acknowledge the existing, original and ancient connection Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have to the lands and waterways across the Australian continent. We pay our respects to the elders past and present. We commit to working together to build a prosperous and inclusive Australia.
