Sited within the rugged urban environment of Western Southland this house presents itself to maximise ocean views of the Riverton coastline.
A ‘pocket’ site set a street back from the Rocks Highway this house elevates itself enough to capture the forever changing coastal environment. The house is set under a low set mono pitched roof with only roof and wall offsets designed to meet planning rules.
Finishes and claddings have been considered not only for their durable requirements but also a nod to the history of the area.
Inside, a combination of slopping and flat ceilings provide both intimate and voluminous spaces. This provides the clients a place of retreat but also a place of celebration when the family come to stay.
